Oxford University Press

Oxford University Press (OUP) is a department of the University of Oxford and has been printing books since 1478—just two years after William Caxton brought the first printing press to England. Bearing a rich and textured history, OUP has expanded from its roots in fifteenth-century biblical commentaries to a global output of more than six-thousand titles each year. Today, OUP is the largest University Press in the world, and publishes dictionaries, English language teaching materials, children’s books, journals, scholarly monographs, higher education textbooks, and schoolbooks. Publishing across a range of markets and in a variety of formats, the Press’s activity is unified by one overarching mission statement: to further the University’s objective of excellence in research, scholarship, and education by publishing worldwide.
